1. How matching works

The matching process on RootedLearn generally follows these steps:

1. The guardian or learner specifies the subject, education level, schedule, learning goals, and any preferences.
2. You choose and pay for a lesson package. Payment comes before tutor selection.
3. RootedLearn recommends suitable verified tutors, which your family can view through a private matching link.
4. You choose the tutor that best fits, and we help move the booking into the lesson schedule.

2. Only verified tutors are recommended

Every tutor we recommend has been through our application and review workflow, which includes checking the certificates and qualifications they submit, a subject-based assessment that verifies their knowledge of each subject they claim to teach, and profile review before admin approval. We only recommend tutors who are verified and approved to teach on the platform. You can read more in our Tutor quality and Safeguarding policies.

3. What we consider in recommendations

When recommending tutors, RootedLearn considers factors such as:

• Subject and level fit — whether the tutor teaches the subject and level the learner needs.
• Availability alignment — whether the tutor's availability matches your requested schedule.
• Preferences and goals — the teaching focus and any preferences you have shared.
• Fair distribution — spreading opportunities fairly across our verified tutors, rather than sending all requests to a few.

4. Your role in choosing

The final choice is yours. From the recommended tutors, your family reviews the available profile information — such as teaching focus, subject coverage, availability, and other helpful details — and selects the tutor you feel is the best fit for the learner. Taking a moment to review the options helps you make a confident choice.

5. Changing tutors or requesting a different match

Sometimes the first match is not the right one, and that is fine. If the fit does not feel right — for teaching style, scheduling, or any other reason — contact support with the booking details and your concern, and we will review the next best step, which may include recommending a different tutor. Urgent safety concerns should go to our safeguarding route.

6. Scheduling and confirmation

Once you select a tutor, RootedLearn helps move the booking into the lesson schedule so lessons can be confirmed and take place in the online classroom. You can then track lessons, reports, materials, assignments, and progress through the platform. All lessons and required communication happen on RootedLearn.

7. Learning outcomes

RootedLearn facilitates matching between families and verified tutors, but we do not guarantee specific learning outcomes or results. Progress depends on many factors, including the learner's engagement, consistent attendance, and effort, alongside the tutor's teaching. We focus on giving your family a strong, well-matched starting point and the tools to track progress.
