This policy explains how RootedLearn uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, the categories we use, the third parties involved, how long they last, and how you can control or withdraw your consent at any time. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies — such as local storage, pixels, and software development kits — do comparable things. They let a site remember your actions and preferences, keep you secure, and understand how the site is used. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by RootedLearn) or "third-party" (set by another provider whose service we use, such as an analytics or security provider). They can also be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (kept for a set period).
2. How we ask for consent
When you first visit, a consent banner lets you Accept all, Reject all non-essential cookies, or Customise your choice by category. Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the site cannot function without them; every other category stays switched off until you opt in. We store your choice so we don't ask again on every visit, and we will ask again if our cookie categories change materially. You can revisit and change your decision at any time — see section 7.
3. Categories of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary — essential for the site to load, stay secure, balance traffic, protect against bots, and remember your cookie choice. Always on.
- Analytics — help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Off until you allow them.
- Functional — remember choices such as language or region for a more personalised experience. Off until you allow them.
- Marketing — used to measure campaigns and relevance across other sites. We do not currently run marketing cookies, but this category controls them if we ever do. Off until you allow them.
4. Cookies and technologies in detail
The table below lists the main cookies and technologies we use. Exact names, especially third-party ones, can change as providers update their services; we keep this list as accurate as we reasonably can.

The online classroom and signed-in portal (at the portal subdomain) also use strictly necessary cookies and storage to keep you securely signed in and to run live lessons. Those are covered by the account terms you agree to when you sign in.
5. Third-party services
Some cookies are set by third parties whose services we rely on. Each has its own privacy and cookie practices:
- Google (Analytics 4 & Tag Manager) — website analytics and tag management. See Google's privacy policy and "how Google uses information from sites that use its services."
- Cloudflare (Turnstile) — bot protection and security for our forms.
We do not control third-party cookies and recommend reviewing each provider's policy. We only allow analytics and marketing providers to set cookies after you consent.
6. Google Consent Mode
We use Google Consent Mode. Before any tag loads, analytics, advertising, functional and personalisation storage default to denied. Nothing is stored until you make a choice, and when you accept a category we update the relevant consent signal so the corresponding tags may operate. If you decline, tags either don't run or run in a cookieless mode that does not store data on your device.
7. How to manage or withdraw consent
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer, or here: . Reopening the preferences lets you switch categories on or off and save. Withdrawing consent does not affect data already collected lawfully before you withdrew.
8. Browser and device controls
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings, and you can usually clear the site's local storage too. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working. Browser help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge explain how to manage cookies on each device.
9. Do Not Track
Because there is no agreed industry standard for "Do Not Track" browser signals, our site relies on the consent choices you make here rather than on Do Not Track headers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our site, providers, or legal obligations change. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, where changes are significant, ask for your consent again.
