UI (User Interface) Design is the craft of the screens people actually touch — the buttons, menus, forms, cards and components they tap and click. Good UI makes a product feel clear, consistent, modern and effortless to use. What you'll learn: You'll learn to design individual components (buttons, inputs, menus, cards) and combine them into clean screen layouts. You'll master grids and spacing, colour and type systems, and how to design every state a component can be in — default, hover, active, focused, disabled, loading, empty and error — so nothing feels broken. You'll build and use design systems and component libraries so a whole product stays consistent as it grows, create interactive prototypes that behave like the real thing, and design for different screen sizes. You'll take a wireframe or a UX flow and turn it into a polished, high-fidelity interface, and hand designs to developers cleanly. Tools & technologies: Figma (components, auto-layout, variants and prototyping), design systems, and an understanding of how designs become real UI in code. Real-life scenarios: • Design the screens of a mobile banking app so paying a bill takes a few obvious taps. • Build a design system so an entire product stays consistent as new features ship. • Turn a rough sketch or wireframe into a polished, clickable prototype the team can test. • Redesign a confusing checkout so more shoppers actually finish their purchase. • Design a dashboard that presents complex data in a calm, readable layout. • Create a component library a whole team reuses, speeding up every future screen. Career paths: UI designer, product designer, UI/UX designer, or design-system specialist. Who it's for: Designers who want to specialise in digital products, developers who want their apps to look professional, and anyone aiming for a product-design career.
